‘Lord of the Rings’ TV series under negotiation

A television series based on JRR Tolkien’s novels ‘The Lord of the Rings’ is under talks by American & UK studios.

Warner Bros. Television and the estate of JRR Tolkien are in talks with e-commerce company of Amazon Incorporation for a television series based on the novels ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

Amazon Incorporation’s affiliated network, Amazon Studios, looks to adapt the popular ‘Lord of the Rings’ story into a television series.

Although no deal has been set, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has taken it personally upon himself to be involved in the negotiations.

Oxford-based legal body, Tolkien Estate, is expected to fetch around $200-250 million for the sale of the television rights of the iconic fantasy series.

‘The Lord of the Rings’ tells the story of Frodo Baggins, a young Hobbit who is tasked with destroying an artifact in hopes of saving the fictional world of Middle-Earth.

New Zealand film director Peter Jackson’s film trilogy has been the most commercially - and critically-successful adaptation of Tolkien’s books.
